It’s time to add some fun and variety your exercise routine.
The Power of Variety
Tired of doing the same exercises week after week? Then it’s time to discover new ways to enjoy your workouts and to challenge yourself – mentally and physically. New activities prevent exercise boredom and burn out. Trying something different challenges both your mind and body in new ways. Your options are limitless. You can rediscover the fun of activities you did in the past or discover the joys of trying something totally new.
Fun Activities to try:
Dance: Hit the local club or sign up for a class at your local dance school. Ballet, Hip-Hop, jazz or ballroom. It’s all good. Have fun!
Swimming: From back yard pool to the ocean, swimming is a great low impact total body work out. Check out your local swim teams to learn new strokes and make a few friends too.
Yoga/Pilates: Increase you flexibility and strengthen your core at the same time. Classes can be relaxing but power or combo classes are also available in most areas.
Rock Climbing: Indoor or out door this is a challenge
Running: Take your morning jog to the next level by adding bursts of sprinting! It’s a real cardio blast –you’ll be amazed!
Jump Rope: Pretend you are a kid again. You’ll get a great cardio work out and discover muscles you forgot you even had!
Kickboxing: Try a video or a class at your local gym. This is a great total body work out.
Cycling: Great cardio and exercise for the thighs, glutes, and hips. Try one of the following: Don’t forget your helmet & water bottle!
- Spinning classes offer a fun social environment.
- Get out on the open road! Look online for local riding clubs.
- Mountain biking is a great way to enjoy the outdoors.
Ice Skating/Rollerblading: Great cardio and exercise for the thighs, glutes, and hips.
Challenging your body and mind with new exercise activities is essential to avoiding exercise boredom and burnout. Fun physical activities are essential to creating and maintaining a healthier happier lifestyle. So get out there and have some fun!
