The Secret to Loosing Weight

Are you looking for a pill or plan that will magically shed unwanted pounds? The secret to losing weight and keeping it off is not a magic pill or plan — it's science!

It’s as simple as calories in vs. calories out. To gain a pound, you have to eat 3,500 calories more than what your body needs to maintain your current weight. To lose a pound, you have to burn 3,500 calories more than what your body needs to maintain your current weight.

If it’s a s simple as that why is it so hard to loose weight???

The reason it’s so hard to loose weight is that it's so much easier to eat too many calories than it is to burn off extra calories! It only takes a minute to gobble up a 300-calorie candy bar, and a 3 mile speed walk to burn it off! Combining lower calorie intake and adding more fat burning cardio exercise is the key to loosing extra weight.

Use science to find your fat burning cardio workout range. The secret here is not working out any harder! Actually, working out at too high of an intensity leads to an anaerobic state that burns muscle instead of fat.

Experts at the American Academy of Sports Medicine suggest you use the following formula to find your fat burning cardio heart rate range:

  • Estimate your maximum heart rate by subtracting your age from 220.
  • Multiply your maximum heart rate by 0.6 to get your lower limit.
  • Multiply your maximum heart rate by 0.9 to get your upper limit.

Once you have calculated your ideal heart rate range your ready to go. The next time you work out try to keep your heart rate in the upper middle of your range limit.  Beginners aim for the lower end of your range. And don't worry about taking it too easy because you'll burn more fat by keeping your intensity in check.
